ABSTRACT
The study on effect of heating temperature changes has been
done to the characteristics and microstructural of coconut shell activated
carbon. This study aims to determine the optimum heating temperature of
activated coconat shell activated carbon, to observe the morphology of the
microstructure of coconut shell activated carbon and determine the effect of
heating temperature of activated carbon
for well water purification. The heating process of coconut shell charcoalc
carried out at a temperature of 500oC, 600oC, 700°C, at
800oC and 900oC
for 1 hour. The testing results of optimum coconut shell activated carbon showed water
content of 4.86%, ZMM contentof 10,84%, ash content of 2.04% and carbon content of 87,12% based SNI
No.06-3730-1995 is at a temperature of 700°C, while the optimum water
absorption was obtained at a temperature of 900oC. Results of
microstructural morphology of coconut shell activated carbon showing pores formation of coconut shell activated carbon at
a temperature of 900oC.
